Sales and Marketing Lead
The opportunity
All roads lead to the website. We invest heavily in television, digital, email and social, and every one of those roads ends up on our Shopify stores across three markets. We need a Sales and Marketing Lead to own that whole journey, from the first ad a customer sees to the moment they buy and come back, and to make every dollar of media work harder.
This is a hands-on commercial role, not a hands-off strategist. You will own the marketing channels and the revenue targets that go with them, lead the designer and the Shopify developer, and work closely with our media partners and the finance team. You will be measured on growth, on return on ad spending and on conversion.
Key responsibilities
Marketing strategy and brand
● Own the marketing strategy and calendar across the company, In the Driver’s Seat and Sometimes Always, and across Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.
● Set and protect the brand voice and positioning and turn it into campaigns that sell.
● Plan launches, offers and promotions and brief the team to deliver them on time.
Performance and acquisition
● Own customer acquisition across paid digital, email, SMS, social and direct response
television, working with our media partners.
● Hold agencies and channels accountable to clear targets for return on ad spend, customer acquisition cost and payback.
● Manage the marketing budget and report on what every channel returns.
Ecommerce and conversion
● Own the revenue and conversion of the Shopify stores, working with the Shopify developer to lift the path from landing to purchase.
● Drive the offers, landing pages and journeys that turn traffic into sales.
● Improve retention and repeat purchase through email, SMS and customer lifecycle marketing.
Content and channels
● Direct the content plan and brief the Graphic Designer and Social Editor on what each channel needs.
● Grow the organic and social presence across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn.
● Make sure every channel points cleanly back to the website.
Team and partners
● Lead, support and develop the Shopify Developer and the Graphic Designer and Social Editor.
● Manage external media, advertising and marketing partners and get the best from them.
● Work closely with the Finance Manager on targets, budgets and channel profitability.
What success looks like in the first six months
● Clear revenue and acquisition targets are set by channel and by territory and tracked every week.
● Return on ad spending and conversion are measured, understood and improved.
● The website, content and media are pulling in one direction rather than competing.
● The team produces campaigns on time and to a high standard.
About you
Essential
● Proven experience leading sales and marketing in a direct response, e-commerce or
consumer brand.
● Strong performance marketing background across paid digital, email and ideally direct
response television.
● Commercially sharp, comfortable owning revenue targets and a marketing budget.
● A deep understanding of Shopify, conversion and the ecommerce funnel.
● A confident leader who can brief and get the best from designers, developers and agencies.
● Fluent in the numbers, able to work hand in hand with finance on return and profitability.
Desirable
● Experience across multiple international markets.
● A background in skincare, beauty or health.
● Hands on experience with email and SMS platforms, analytics and ad platforms.
