Azure Data Engineer

We’re looking for a highly capable Azure Data Engineer to join our team and take ownership of our cloud-based data infrastructure. In this role, you’ll design and maintain our Azure Synapse database, build and manage ELT pipelines, and ensure seamless data integration from a variety of sources. Database Architecture & Management

  • Design and manage scalable, secure, and high-performing Azure Synapse data warehouses.
  • Refactor and optimize existing schemas, tables, and structures to support evolving reporting and analytics needs.

Pipeline Development (ELT)

  • Develop and manage end-to-end data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) to ingest, stage, and transform data from diverse sources.
  • Automate data refresh schedules, dependency handling, and error logging.

Data Integration

  • Integrate with third-party APIs, SaaS platforms, and internal systems to unify structured and semi-structured data into a central data platform.
  • Standardize data ingestion processes and develop reusable components for future integrations.

SQL Development

  • Write, refactor, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and data transformation logic.
  • Conduct performance tuning and query optimization across datasets and layers.

Governance, Quality & Documentation

  • Ensure data integrity and quality across all pipelines and processes.
  • Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation of schemas, data flows, interfaces, and configuration.
  • Support data governance initiatives, including lineage, cataloging, and metadata tracking.

Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with analysts, business stakeholders, and application teams to understand data needs and translate them into scalable solutions.
  • Provide operational support for the platform and proactively resolve data-related issues.

Skills & Experience

 

Required

Experience as a Data Engineer, Database Developer, or similar role

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, including performance tuning and complex joins
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Azure Synapse Analytics
    • Azure Data Factory (ADF)
    • Azure Blob Storage
    • SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
  • Solid understanding of ELT/ETL architecture and best practices
  • Experience integrating data from REST APIs, webhooks, or other external systems
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and process documentation
