Accountant (Hybrid)

Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day financial operations and ensure accurate record-keeping across our systems. The ideal candidate will be experienced in using Xero, have a good understanding of bookkeeping and minor HR functions, and possess a strong ability to reconcile data across multiple platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and accounted for.
• Prepare and submit Business Activity Statements (BAS) in compliance with relevant tax regulations.
• Manage monthly payables and coordinate subcontractor claims, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
• Support minor HR functions within Xero, including updates to employee details and leave records.
• Load and verify invoices in Xero, cross-referencing with our Project Management (PM) software to facilitate accurate pay run creation.
• Maintain up-to-date financial records and assist in the preparation of periodic financial reports.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure smooth financial operations.

Qualifications:
• Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar finance/accounting role.
• Strong proficiency in Xero accounting software.
• Experience with BAS preparation and ATO compliance.
• Familiarity with subcontractor payables and basic HR tasks is highly desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Good communication skills for internal coordination.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience in industries with subcontractor involvement (e.g., construction, project-based services).
• Knowledge of project management software and how it integrates with accounting workflows.
