Accounts Payable Team Leader

Job Summary

The Accounts Payable Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and reconciliations. This role involves leading and supporting the AP team, maintaining strong internal controls, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure efficient financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and support the Accounts Payable team to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments
• Review and approve invoices, payment runs, and journal entries in accordance with company policies
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
• Resolve escalated AP issues, including vendor inquiries and discrepancies
• Monitor team performance, workloads, and KPIs, and provide coaching and feedback
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations and reporting
• Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the AP function
• Collaborate with Finance, Procurement, and other departments to streamline workflows
• Support system enhancements, implementations, and testing related to AP processes

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
• 5+ years of Accounts Payable experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or team lead role
• Strong understanding of AP processes, payment methods, and reconciliations
• Experience using accounting or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Xero, MYOB)
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
