System Administrator

Job Summary:

As a System Administrator, you will manage, configure, and maintain the organisation’s IT infrastructure.
This role includes ensuring the availability, performance, and security of servers, networks, and other
critical application systems that support the organisation. The System Administrator will work closely
with other IT professionals and departments to address system issues, implement upgrades, and ensure
compliance with banking regulations.

Outline of Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
System Management:
• Administer and maintain server environments, including physical and virtual servers.
• Manage and support operating systems and applications used in the organisation.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure system reliability and uptime.
• Plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and maintenance tasks.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve system performance and efficiency.

Security and Compliance:
• Implement and manage security protocols to protect sensitive financial data and systems.
• Ensure compliance with banking regulations and internal security policies.
• Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.

Network Administration:
• Configure and manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Monitor network performance and resolve connectivity issues.
• Ensure secure network access for authorised users and systems.

Backup and Recovery:
• Implement and manage backup solutions to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Monitor backup jobs and resolve issues related to backup failures or inconsistencies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain disaster recovery plans for critical IT systems and data.
• Ensure recovery procedures are in place and can be executed during a system failure.
• Perform regular testing of DR plans, including recovery exercises and simulations.

User Support:
• Provide technical support and training to the staff on system usage and troubleshooting.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in line with organisational policies.

Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and policies.
• Prepare reports on system performance, incidents, and compliance for management review.
• Prepare and present reports on DR and BCP activities.

Vendor and Third-Party Management:
• Manage relationships with service providers to ensure they meet DR and BCP requirements.
• Review and update contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) related to IT services.

Other Duties:
Other duties as directed by the <<reporting manager>>, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s IT
strategy and objectives.
