Solve the Problem of Poor Customer Service

Small companies have similar goals: to one day become bigger and to exponentially increase their revenue to cover all expenses.  This will take time and will require a lot of hard work.

To get there, however, one aspect of operations should never be neglected: customer service. Ineffective or even bad customer service is one of the more serious problems that small companies face as they try to get off the ground and expand. Constantly bad customer service has severe repercussions for companies: to put it simply, they lose customers.

Flat Planet CEO Chris Moriarty was at the helm of the 2015 Family Day event for all Flat Planet employees held last September 5 at the Manila Boat Club. Chris was at the venue way ahead of the organizing staff – he was busy cooking hundreds of sausages at the BBQ grill by the time the staff arrived to put the finishing touches on the circus-themed decorations and dining areas.

Flat Planet CEO Chris Moriarty was a speaker at the 7th International IT-BPM Summit (IIS) held at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Manila. He delivered a 15-minute presentation entitled “Working without Borders: Dealing with the workforce in a disruptive digital environment”. He focused on the feasibility of establishing “smaller agile highly distributed teams performing at world-best practice levels” as an employment arrangement among BPO firms and offshore partner companies.

It was in 2013 when Flat Planet first became involved in helping Gabay ng Landas (Guide to the Path), better known as the “Gala Foundation”. Flat Planet was busy preparing for its involvement in the Manila 10s, the first rugby tournament held in the Philippines. The company was then supporting (as it continues to do so now) the Fiji Golden Oldies team, but Flat Planet CEO Chris Moriarty wanted to hold an activity for the visiting team members that was more worthwhile than just going to an Australian bar or seeing the sights.

It’s not just big companies that can outsource their processes; small companies can also benefit. Small companies often outsource their payroll processing, accounting, distribution, and other important functions so they focus on their core business.  Outsourcing is a way to lower the cost of production without affecting quality of work.

Offshoring to countries like the Philippines has many advantages. A senior diplomat with the Australian government said “Each day 500,000 Filipinos get out of bed to work for American companies. They are the secret sauce that helps to make American companies globally competitive. Wouldn’t Australia be better off if instead these people got out of bed and helped make Australian companies globally competitive?
